Trump lashes out as House investigators prep more subpoenas
President Donald Trump on Thursday laid into congressional Democrats over their investigations into his administration and 2016 campaign, asking, “How many bites at the apple do they get” before dropping their probes and moving on to issues like immigration reform?
The tweets, which came as part of a larger spree of almost two dozen tweets over the course of the morning, came moments before the House Judiciary Committee gathered to vote on authorizing subpoenas to 12 witnesses in the Mueller investigation.
“Now the Democrats have asked to see 12 more people who have already spent hours with Robert Mueller, and spent a fortune on lawyers in so doing. How many bites at the apple do they get before working on Border Loopholes and Asylum,” he wrote.
Among those in Democrats’ crosshairs are a dozen individuals who either worked in the Trump administration or who have close ties to Trump, including Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, former national security adviser Michael Flynn, former chief of staff John Kelly and former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.
